When can you service my vehicle?
Fergies is open five days a week, and offer an out of hours drop off and collection service. We’ll always try and accommodate your booking at a convenient time as well as make provision for last-minute bookings wherever possible.
What's carried out during a service?
Wear naturally occurs to your vehicle over both time and mileage travelled. We’ll make sure your vehicle is comprehensively inspected and bring to your attention any remedial work that may be required.
The vehicle manufacturer has designed a specific service schedule for your vehicle, and our award-winning technicians will make sure that this is followed or exceeded. You’ll find an outline below of the typical vehicle areas inspected.
Typical Service Items:
Lights and Visibility: Your front and rear lights are checked to ensure correct operation. Items affecting visibility such as glass, wipers mirrors are also inspected.
Brakes: All braking components are inspected and measurements are taken so we can document the service life. Where necessary brakes are dismantled cleaned and refitted to maintain correct operation.
Vehicle Interior: We’ll thoroughly check the horn, hazard lights, vehicle controls and seat belts. We’ll also check to driver display for warning messages as well as interrogate the vehicle’s computers for sporadic and permanent faults.
Suspension, Steering and Drive: A thorough check of joints, gaiters as well as wheel bearings is conducted. Followed by inspecting all front and rear suspension components, linkages, shock absorbers and road springs.
Under Bonnet: An inspection of all under bonnet components is carried out making sure all components are in a serviceable condition an no leaks exist. Items such as air filter, oil filter, sparks plugs, drive belts, etc are replaced if applicable.
Beneath the Vehicle: Vehicle under trays are removed, followed by draining the engine oil and checking the transmission for leaks. All fuel lines and inspected to ensure security and the fuel filter replaced if dictated by the schedule.
Wheel and Tyres: All road wheels and tyres (spare if fitted) are inspected to ensure serviceability. Tyre pressures are adjusted before refitting to the vehicle. We’ll also take a look to ensure the inflation kit operates correctly where fitted.
Final Inspection: To conclude the service, the engine is filled with new oil, and other under bonnet levels are filled as required. Finally, the vehicle is road tested, and the service book or digital service record is updated.
